Schools and programs
01DTS
Discipleship Training School
The Discipleship Training School (DTS) offers a challenging, intensive experience of 5 to 6 months, with teaching that revolutionizes students inside their classrooms. It is not just a training school: it is a school for discovering the value of the call to serve God on the mission field. It takes place at the YWAM Leticia headquarters and offers great cultural diversity, thanks to the work done in Indigenous communities, with the arts, evangelism, works of mercy and discipleship, among other things. When students finish their school, they may have the opportunity to join the work team for 2 years or more.
- Duration
- 5 to 6 months: 3 of lecture phase and 2 of outreach phase.
- Dates
- To be confirmed.
02EMI
School of Missions for Indigenous Peoples
The EMI is a school created by JUCUM Leticia: a contextualized version of the DTS for Indigenous people, so they too can be missionaries. That is why it takes place at the jungle base, in a setting that feels like their own. Its schedule makes room for developing skills such as fishing or workshops and offers many opportunities for them to go out and preach in their own communities, where they are most at home. And it does not stop there: they are also encouraged to go out to the nations. God has called everyone, without segmenting or conditioning them culturally.
- Duration
- Write to us and we will tell you how long it lasts.
- Dates
- To be confirmed.
03OBT
Oral Bible Translation
The OBT expands missionary skills: it is not only about translating one word into another language, but about contextualizing God’s Word into each community’s language and culture, so it is better understood and we see how God has revealed Himself in every culture without erasing it. During the school, real translation work is carried out, because students share the same space with members of the communities whose languages are being translated. The latest edition took place at the Leticia base, with Emberá, Wounaan and Katío facilitators who prepared here and shared with the other students a hands-on experience of what translating the Word means.
- Duration
- About three months.
- Dates
- To be confirmed.
04Pastors’ seminars
Through the seminars, the JUCUM Leticia base trains the pastors of Indigenous communities: it gives them new tools and strengthens their skills to share the Kingdom of God. They are held within each activity, such as the medical brigades and Explosión, and at other times of the year, at the base and in the communities themselves.
- Duration
- Write to us and we will tell you how long it lasts.
- Dates
- Throughout the year: within each activity (medical brigades, Explosión) and at other times.
