Eradicating Bible poverty

Bible distribution, discipleship and Bible education programs.

Description

One of the main missions of YWAM Leticia is to eradicate Bible poverty in the region and beyond. Our vision is that every family has a Bible in their home and in their own language, and that they may be transformed by the power of the Word as they come to know Jesus.

We do this through a spirit of prayer, translation, publishing, distribution, education and motivation around the Word.

Committed to eradicating Bible poverty

A Bible transforming every home in the Amazon is not achieved with a single action.

  • Prayer

Everything begins by interceding for every community and every family.

  • Translation

The Word in each people’s heart language.

  • Publishing

Bibles and materials ready to reach every home.

  • Distribution

By river, road and jungle, to the most remote communities.

  • Education

Programs to learn to read, understand and apply the Bible.

  • Motivation

Awakening hunger for the Word in pastors, leaders and families.

Four phases in the Amazon

For 26 years, YWAM Leticia has worked tirelessly in the communities of the region, bringing the Word as a means of spiritual transformation to those who do not know the gospel. We carry this truth based on Acts 1:8.

  1. Phase 1

    Jerusalem (Leticia)

It all begins in Leticia, the city where the work is born.

  2. Phase 2

    Judea (communities near Leticia)

Communities reached by land, from km 1 to km 30 and Puerto Nariño.

  3. Phase 3

    Samaria (riverside communities)

In the Amazon, “riverside communities” are those living beside the river and reachable only by river transport. This phase runs from Puerto Nariño to San Juan de Atacuari.

  4. Phase 4

The ends of the earth (border communities)

We are already in this phase together with the OBT, working with communities beyond the Amazon.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
